Changelog of the AITEC Archives

This page lists the changes made to the AITEC (Research Institute for Advanced Information Technology) part of the archive between the original archive DVD (2005) and the version published at www.uedalab.jp/AITEC_ICOT_ARCHIVES. The DVD content was copied to this site in 2016–2018. The work below was done from 18 to 30 September 2026 with the help of Claude (an AI assistant), at the request of the site maintainer. Entries are in chronological order (dates in JST); paths are relative to the AITEC/ folder. Changes to the ICOT part are listed in the ICOT changelog.

1. Character-encoding declarations and circled numbers — 2026-09-18

Defects

Changes

Files modified: 58.

2. Non-standard characters and damaged bytes — 2026-09-19/20

Vendor-specific symbols in Shift_JIS pages

These characters come from Mac Japanese and NEC/IBM extensions that current browsers cannot display.

Data corruption (damaged bytes)

After these changes, every HTML page decodes cleanly in its declared encoding. A few pages were also corrected by hand by the site maintainer during this work.

Files modified: 106.

3. Archive top page — 2026-09-28

Defect

The two entry buttons of the archive top page shared with ICOT (../index.html, inherited from the DVD’s start page) were table cells with JavaScript onclick handlers only, which search engines do not follow.

Change

The button texts were wrapped in ordinary links to aitec.html and ../ICOT/HomePage-J.html; the click behaviour is unchanged.

4. Files lost in the 2016 copy — 2026-09-30

Defect

In Report/H14-reports/H1503-AITEC-Report3/AITEC0203R2-images/, the copy made in February 2016 was incomplete: 114.gif was empty and 115.gif onwards (66 files) and _notes/ (two files) were missing, so several pages of that report showed broken images.

Change

The 69 files were restored from the DVD; the directory is now identical to the DVD.

5. This changelog — 2026-09-30

This changelog was added (changelog-E.html, changelog-J.html), with a link to it next to “利用条件” (terms of use) near the top of aitec.html.

Known remaining issue

Ten presentations under Ronbun/ and Report/H14-reports/YTChien/ were saved with PowerPoint’s “Save as Web Page” for Internet Explorer and work only partly in current browsers. Five of them also have a PDF version. They are left as they are.
